Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.

Dear Readers,
Thank you for visiting Inspira MedEd: Inspira’s Internal Medicine Resident Education Blog!
As part of the new year (2020), I am excited to bring this new project to my residency program. My co-residents and I have come to love FOAMed (Free Open Access to Medical Education) through various content forms such as :
- #MedTwitter
- Podcasts
- Online Blogs
The more we explore, the more we are inspired. As residents eager to soak up as much knowledge as we can in ways that are practical and efficient, our amazing chiefs began something new this past October: ‘Sign Out Pearls’. These are daily 5 to 10 minute pearls on a specific topic usually presented by a senior after evening sign outs Mondays to Thursdays. Content presented are evidence-based and have been found to be quite valuable to my co-residents and I.
While I found being present for these sign outs extremely informative, I knew I was missing out on valuable pearls when not in attendance, such as when on an elective rotation. Turns out, quite a few co-residents feel the same way. And that is what inspired this blog. All our seniors who present will have the opportunity to post their content in the form of a short post so that the rest of our program, and readers, can soak up that little extra knowledge. After their pearls are posted, the content will be shared on our new Twitter account. My hope is that as the blog gains some traction, we can start posting more content such as:
- Morning Report case summaries
- Journal Club presentations
- Original resident research and case studies
Thank you to my co-residents for being supportive of this project and to the #MedTwitter / #FOAMed / #MedEd community for all the content and energy you bring to medical education.

Regards,
Uday Gulati, DO
